Ethernet not working. Please help me.

Hello, Before I start let me say, This issue is on my desktop, I am currently using wifi on it. I am typing this on my laptop which I am also using wifi.

Ok so I have had my pc since may, I had ethernet installed in my attic in june. Ever since it has been working fine and at full speed. about 3 days ago it stopped working. It was saying "Ethernet cable unplugged" And let me clarify, It wasnt. I checked on both sides, The router and pc and they were both in, I unplugged them and plugged them back in just to be safe. Nothing. It then started not saying "Cable unplugged" It started saying "Unidentified network" It has been going from one of the 2 errors to the other. Now Its not the cable, Its not the router nor is it the pc's ethernet port. Let me explain, The cable is fine and functioning fine because when I plug it into my 360 it works. Its not my router because I have a youview box connected to the router also, Which works in both ports. Its not the pc either because I plugged the ethernet cable that is normally used for the youview box into the pc and guess what? It worked. Now you maybe thinking, Well just use the youview cable, Well I cant because It wont reach as its only a 4 meter cable I think. I cant get a new cable to go up to my pc because the first one took a good hour to install by a member in my family which wouldn't do it again. My internet is alredy slow even when using ethernet, getting about 13 down. (or 1.7 Megabytes) But combine that with wifi that has extremely weak signal when in the attic and you get slower than dial up speeds. Rarely youtube will work but browsing doesnt work and I dont even want to attempt to online game. Now I am awful at networking and things like that so please dont confuse me with networking jargon or I will just reply a question mark out of confusion. But can anyone provide A solution that isnt super complicated? I have tried almost everything and nothing works. I am getting at the edge of my patience and really beg for some assistance.

When it shows "unidentified network" just do an ipconfig /release and /renew, should fix the issue. Otherwise, it's some component that is causing an issue.
