I am a casual PC gamer, and wanting to upgrade my pc. Currently i am playing games like City Skylines, GTA 5, and Dirt 3 etc at decent resolution. And looking forward to play Civilization 6.

My current system is as below:

Processor- Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 2.66ghz 12mb Cache

Ram- Cosair DDR2 4gb XMS2 800mhz

Storage- 128gb Intel 520 SSD, 2tb WD Blue

Motherboard- Asus P5Q LGA775 P45 Chipset

Video Card- Geforce 970 GTX

Monitor- Samsung 1080 resolution one.

Processor, Motherboard and RAM has been performing since last 8 years. So i am mainly looking to upgrade these parts so the upgraded parts should work for another 5 years at least.

Currently thinking of getting i5 6600 Skylake, 16gb of ddr4 ram and confused about motherboard. Not into SLI or overclocking, so any decent rock solid motherboard, preferably Asus.

Also read that intel 7th gen is going to launch at end of year, so should i wait to get those processors or go for skylake ones now.

If you have the budget for that now just go skylake. There isn't going to be a big difference between kabylake and skylake, 5-10% max difference.
