Hey again, quick bit of help - what am I doing wrong with my bends?

they are usable but a tiny bit squished...

I feel like maybe the silicone insert is too loose?

or is it too much / too little heat?

(this is the spare monsoon tubing so I am practicing! )

How long are you putting it under the heat? I know that's kind of hard to articulate since there are a lot of factors involved with that but I remember when I first started I would see similar results if it wasn't hot enough or I bent too fast and/or twisted while bending.

Maybe you are right and it's not hot enough. I didn't twist but definetly felt like I was forcing the bend a little.

Maybe it was under low heat for two minutes or so?

how tight does the insert fit into the tubing?  It looks like it might be a bit too small, it should fit almost snug, but not tight.

also try heating a slightly larger area of tubing

I think the insert is OK - this is it.

Watching the video above I think I didn't heat it enough. Will try later when the kids gone to bed!

could be.  Do you have a pic of the cord inserted into the tubing?

So the monsoon tubing is looser than the EK tubing but on reflection maybe it is too loose on both?

the website says it measures 11.5mm but I measure it at 11mm

is that supposed to be 12mm ID tubing?  that is definitely looser than mine was, mine just slid in with very little gap.  I often had to rotate it just to get it out after bending.

you could still try a couple with more heat and that same bending cord, they might come out better.  You may need to get a different cord though, I usually buy 2 different ones that should fit my tubing and usually only one of them fits nicely

Think it might be the monsoon tubing, with the EK tubes it's a lot better, still not perfect but still much better -

that does look better, but still looks like you may be stretching the outside radius of the bend a little.  Try heating up another 1" of tube when you do the bend so that the bend doesn't have to stretch things out as much

Will give that a go next time. With this bend I was more worried that there was only a small distance between the bend and the fitting so I didn't want there to be too much deforming of the tube that went in there in case of leaks

yeah I ran into that a few times.  I wrapped a soaking wet rag around the segment that I wanted to go into the fitting to help keep it cool.  Seemed to help quite a bit

Thanks for that last tip, actually it helped a lot with a bend which was too tight and sprung a leak.

Because it was tight using that method resulted in a crappy looking bend but it dealt with the leak.
