Hello all, I recently purchased a Gtx 970 Asus Strix and I wanted to replace it with my old Gtx 670 since the 670 started showing artifacts on screen and it was showing signs of the card being need for replace. When I swapped the 970 into my system, the system started fine but upon the home screen after logging in it gave me a blue screen which was saying I had a video tdr error. Since the card was brand new I would expect for nothing of the sort to happen but the error occured. After restarting my computer several times I kept receiving the blue screen, so I decided to reset the PC to see if anything would change. Nothing happened, so I ran a fresh install for windows 8.1 since I no longer was able to login or reach the login screen. After going through the process of selecting a drive for windows installed I sat there for 30mins waiting for this process to be completed but nothing happened so I cancelled this process to restart from the beginning. However after the post screen i kept getting a "Automatic Repair" prompt and it was scanning my C drive to see if it was corrupted but again nothing happened. After that I was unable to get back to my login screen since all I was getting was an automatic repair prompt. Is there a fix for this error since the card is new? Please I need help !!

Well since you already started the reinstall, your old instance is probably unrecoverable already. Just reinstall. Unplug all but the drive you want to install on and delete all the partition on the drive. Don't create new, just click next. That way you force the installer to build a new bootsector.

Tried this step, but what happens after is after I made it to login scree since I reinstalled using windows 8.1 but what happens is that it prompts me with a choice which is to choose windows startup or startup with windows 8.1. I clicked windows 8.1 and immediately red artifacts were showing on screen and by the time i was to put in my password to log on the screen went white and then after that the screen went black as if there was no signal of video on screen from my hdmi port. These artifacts however only show after I download the necessary Nvidia drivers from the nvidia website. So therefore In order for me to use the PC at its fullest I need drivers, but when I try to download the graphics driver the screen turns black then red artifacts show on screen then after the screen turns white then a few seconds later then black as if the PC was shutting down but the system remains on but screen is still black. I am currently responding from the same system without the graphics driver since if i try to install the graphics driver the problem occurs. Please help
