EVGA NEX are crap, avoid them. @STRMfrmXMN 's list can point you to a better one such as the G2 or GS

If you have the funds I would buy better, but if not it might be OK to use the one you currently own. It's just not a very well regarded PSU is all... still better than a lot of others though too, it's not complete crap and might be OK for years. But, if it was me spending money on hardware that's over $1000, I would spend the extra $80-$100 on a decent PSU.

It's a cheap design by FSP - chinese caps, mediocre electrical performance, average build quality. Not good considering he has a 1070 + i7

I wouldn't call it cheap. The caps on it aren't a problem either and the build quality is actually fair decent and it even has a 10 year warranty which shows Evga has some faith it in. The issue with them is that they are group regulated so they can't output just about all of their power on the 12V rail which is a issue since if you are going to 650 watts you are likely to be using a lot of power on the 12V and there meh voltage regulation and that you can generally get better units for the price.

> FSP is usually pretty darn good at building things well, and this unit is no exception. I saw no major issues at all. I do still have some reservations about Capxon though, and even though I'm on the fence yet with them I think I'll remove a half point for that. Especially since the original version used all Japanese parts

The NEX650G isn't the best build power supply being based on the FSP Aurum platform. It does offer mediocre voltage stability due to it being group-regulated, and since it is based off of the ACRF topology, it tend to exhibit higher ripples, as well as does not seem to reliability handle transient loads very well.

However, I wouldn't call it "crap", in a sense that your system is at risk if you are using it. It's just a mediocre power supply and you most likely could have gotten something better for your money. If you already gotten it and is only powering a single GTX 1070 + i7, I would say you would be fine, TBH.

It's actually made quite well, it's just sad that EVGA sells it when better performing units exist in abundance for the same price point, most of them from EVGA...

That said, though the ripple is a big frowny face it's fine for OP if he already has it. If he had just ordered it and it hadn't shipped or something like that then I'd stop him.
