Need help from Old GPU Experts

We need help on selecting which card would give more performance per $. We'll be using it on a 1080p monitor.

These cards are from other country we just converted the currency to $ so it'll be easier for the majority to help.

EVGA GTX 550 Ti 1GB - $41

Palit GTX 260 896MB - $25

Gainward GTX 650 1GB - $52

Sapphire HD 5770 512MB - $30

I am leaning towards GTX 260 896MB or Sapphire HD 5770 512MB.

But I am not sure whether it GTX 260 will still be okay because it's DX10 if im not mistaken. While im not sure if 512MB of HD 5770 will be okay for 1080p.

GTX 550Ti and 650 is definitely the newer models and are good but they're much more expensive.

Thanks I really appreciate if you could help me since I know nothing about the performances of older cards.

I am only referring to the GPU Hierarchy of tom's hardware but they have their pros and cons which is not stated there.

The GTX 260 only supports up to DirectX 10. I'd go for the GTX 650 personally. It's faster and more capable in DX11 and DX10 compared to the other three cards. It's easily the best option available to ya of those three.

If you look carefully enough on Ebay, you can find a GTX 660 for as low as $50. I did and swiped it for a build for my sister. :D Those and the 750 Ti GPUs are super cheap right now.

My problem with Ebay is the shipping fee. I am from Philippines and shipping is expensive. How about GTX 550Ti? Is the compatibility/optimization still good?

Yeah the 550 Ti is still decent. I mean... if you can overclock it, it'll be even better!

Why no buy it from Php? Old 2nd hand GPU from eBay is totally not worth it after shipping fee imo.

Im sorry, what do you mean? Those I posted above are the cheapest 2nd hands I can get here. We dont have a big online local shop like ebay.

How about this? I saw it in a local 2nd hand site, it has no brand says generic china made and it's very cheap just around $41 for GTX 660 Ti and they claim that it's brand new. o.O

Yes 650 is the best among them but the price is very high. Could you tell which would be sufficient enough for 1080p with games like Dota2, CS:GO, Paragon, Smite?

1080p60 Max setting? even 650 will have problem.

Paragon is pretty demanding for these cards i think and Dota 2 need a good modern CPU, old Core Duo or mid-low end C2D won't cut it. What is the rest of your spec?

Other parts are good. It's just got no proper GPU. It has i3-4170 equipped.

I tried Paragon in my i5-4460 with Internal Graphics HD 4600. It can play well but lowest settings.

That's a good low entry gaming CPU and good enough for those games you'll be playing.

Since $52 is too much for you then grab that 550 Ti instead, it consume twice more power and slightly slower than the 650 tho.
Also not enough to max Dota 2 @1080p60.

550 Ti perform slower than AMD HD7750. Preset 4 is near max setting and 7750 only manage 49 FPS average.
Paragon is more demanding.

If you can fork out near $80 then grab this card instead. https://www.olx.ph/item/sapphire-r7-265-2gb-ddr5-256bit-dual-x-ID7Ayfn.html?p=1&h=93c9efa3b0#93c9efa3b0

Thanks a lot, will consider it..

One last question, it seems they're all in par with Intel HD 530.

Do you think it's beneficial to just sell the CPU, Mobo and RAM then build an i3 Skylake? That would definitely be cheap if the selling goes well since there's no need to purchase a GPU.

Really? I recall HD530 is much slower than these cards.

I see. I dont know much specific info I just relied on Tom hardware's GPU hierarchy. xD

From Toms' own review.

On par with 6670 in GTA:V and that's on low res, even 5770 is faster but 512MB is not enough for today games.. even 1GB in GTX650 is barely enough imo.

That's why i highly suggest you to grab that R7-265 if it's not defective.
