Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read this. So, recently, my computer has been getting upload and download speeds in the 1 to 2 megabit area even though i use Roger's Ignite 60 megabit package. Im currently connected by wifi and my router is a cisco router that has max speeds of 500mbps. I have no idea what's going on. is it my computer's issue, the isp's issue? Or the routers. PLEASE HELP ME

Have you tried to use Ethernet yet? If not, try it and then we can troubleshoot.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

i can't run ethernet up to my room without drilling holes and the powerline is just as worse even though i bought a 10 gigabit kit. (when i tried it today, it was the same speed, normally it's around 50mbps)

Try access points if it has to go through floors.

not happening, trust me, the ethernet is usually the same speed. IT's just that i've been getting extremely slow speeds for the past 5 hours, and ethernet, powerline, wifi, they don't affect the speeds at all

Well then you're going to have to remember that Rogers advertises "Up to" speeds, so there are no guarantees  on how fast the speed will be. Furthermore, it could just be your neighbors are using up lots of bandwith, and since Roger's can't just not give them service, they'll just divvy up the total bandwidth that's available in your area.

So since you said it was just 5 hrs ago, I'm assuming that your all the people in your neighborhood are just binge-watching netflix & chilling. So you'll just have to wait for the storm to pass.

If this continues for a couple of days, I recommend you call up Rogers to see what's up, as under no condition should 60Mb speeds be going down to 1 or 2 Mb for a long time.

You see, i called rogers and told them that i was doing important work and i needed more bandwith allocated to my house, i told them i'd pay extra for it if they wanted to charge. They said that they temporarily increased my bandwith to up to 1 gigabit for 3 hours for free because i'd been with them for more than 10 years. The speeds have only gone up by 2 or 3 megabits, still not enough for me to do my programming work

That is the most sincere, yet most pathetic customer service I have ever seen.

Well then, if rogers can't solve it by increasing your bandwith to gigabit, I really have no idea.

Maybe i should pay my neighbours money to switch to bell for a few years so i can get rogers all to my self. If it costs 100 dollars per neighbour, ill pay 2000 to have a gigabit connection all to myself

Rogers is getting worse all the time. Bell is even worse, especially for coverage. There is so few companies that I can actually recommend, like TekSavvy because they actually give the damn internet speeds that they advertise; only in Ontario I am not sure about anywhere else as I don't use them where I now live. If you live in B.C. I seriously recommend Telus, not sure about anywhere else.

It says he's living in the GTA, where the infrastructure is good (I assume). BTW Teksavvy and all the smaller companies actually just buy bandwith + speed from the Giants Rogers and Bell at wholesale price so...

TekSavvy sells their OWN internet in Essex-Chatham regions.

Rogers is in Canada. The OP also specified he was from the GTA, the Greater Toronto Area.

So what's wrong with it?

I believed you meant that Rogers didn't exist in Canada, or something weird like that.

Exactly why I thought something was wrong. I asked the question for the simple reason for finding out WHY IN THE WORLD you thought Rogers didn't exist in Canada lol. xD
