Help Picking PC Components For a Build

crackruckles

Hi guys i am building a rig for a friend of mine, but i haven't done one in a few years and a lot has changed.

Ive done some research and come up with what i think should be a good gaming machine for around $1500 AUD and just want to know what everyone thinks.

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

  • CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Alpine 11 Plus Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard

  • Memory: G.Skill Value Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory

  • Storage: Samsung 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

  • Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive

  • Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB SC GAMING Video Card

  • Case: BitFenix Prodigy M Midnight Black MicroATX Mini Tower Case

  • Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

  • Monitor: BenQ EW2440L 24.0" 60Hz Monitor

  • Keyboard: Cooler Master OCTANE Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse

Any advise would be great oh and he already has the case.

Nice build besides GPU, PSU and case. A better GPU would be the RX 480 since it is MUCH cheaper here in Australia (I live here too) and performs similarly. The PSU's quality is very important and should never be skimped on. Spend the extra money saved in the GPU to buy a better PSU like an Antec HCG 620W. The case is fine but it has horrible cable management. If you don't care about looks and are cool with cables everywhere, its fine.

Hope this helps :)

I would recommend going for newer architecture.

Something like an i5 6500 is about the same price!

Based around the recommended list by MVPernula with the change of graphics card to the RX480.

Will it all fit in the case, i haven't checked the height of the cooler and the case or the length of the card either.

Does anybody know of the top of their heads, if not i can look it up.

Czech this out, mainly a better power supply (the green Corsair unit is not good) and double HDD capacity for the same price (total storage):
