ps3 bluray help

Zenedge

ok so my ps3 suddenly stopped reading games. i took it to a shop and they said the logic board was broke, i asked if it could be replaced and they said no, because each ps3 has its own specific board, and cant be swapped with others

they said my only option was to jailbreak it. and i dont really want that because i still play bf4 and killzone 3 online.

is there any other way to fix it, or is jailbreaking my only option?

The logic board is married to the motherboard, I remember seeing a way to swap the security chip from one logic board to another but it requires some really good soldering skills.

My ps3 had the same problem a few times. Before doing the drastic options just try cleaning the lens with alcohol. It may just be a little dusty. Do not use canned air duster it may cause more problems. You'll need to take apart the system there are plenty of videos on youtube if you need help with this. Good luck

Honestly I would just look for a good deal on a used console.

That repair shop is completely full of shit.  Replacement parts are available.  Individual consoles are not unique.

That's what I'd do. I feel like they're cheap enough now. The SSD in mine is worth more than the PS3 itself now.
