Ive found a open box gtx 460 on the internet for £42(not used but not in its box), my cousin wants to play call of duty, minecraft and rift, maybe borderlands. he cant go next gen which he wants to as his parents dont like the pay for internet stuff and i might of started getting loud about steam prices been 200% lower then console prices.

Anyways it will be paired with a pentium 2020 or an athlon x3 depending on which is cheaper when i order(they seem to go up and down quickly). Also take in mind that this is a £350 build which includes win7, so i guess its a £280 build.

At that budget better off going with an APU build and upgrading to a dedicated GPU later on.

Dont overclock on this board tho. You CAN but i dont recommend overclocking without cpu cooler and mATX mobo that is mid range. The clock on cpu is fine, you can downvolt.

Cpu fits & works on this mobo.

i agree cheapest amd tripple/quad core you can get (20% better ipc doesnt beat 50-100% more cores in this case) and i have a gtx260 and a gtx285 which will be beaten by (and go toe to toe with) a 460, except the 460 has dx11 as a bonus.
should be good for mid range (medium at 1600x900 etc) in most games.
the games you listed arnt demanding at all, on minecraft 1.6.4 im capped at 120fps (not vsync i only have a 60hz tv)
and call of duty can be run on a pentium 3...
you can likely do some gta4/5 on it aswell, check out some youtube videos, ONLY pay attention to the ones with full system specs and give an fps ("with fraps-without fraps") and you'll have a rough idea.
a 9600gt in most second hand online stores like CEX go for £30 and i paid £45 for my 260 (its not a vanilla one so im happy)

why ? you wanna tell me that the weak gpu found in apus is better? couse no .

or like i said in my edited post, athlon x4 + dedicated gpu. but hell no apu couse he can get a decent but better gpu

Minecraft is CPU intensive not Very demanding on the GPU side.

YES its over budget but unlike most people here i have experiance with these parts, my mate (lives in the flat next door) actually has this board (as do i) and he has an athlon 640 and we've been playing bf4 until now with him on my gtx260, it only got 45fps at 1366x768 but its beta...
i've PM'd you, ask us and we can give you an in depth review on any component you like, you could get it closer to the budget if you take out the cooler but...yeah.
Also see if you can find some other way to get windows, see if anyone you know has a copy...

If he wants to play next gen then the budget will have to increase a ton, the pentium will not keep up, the list of games dont have mantle support and to be honest it is highly unlikely for older games to get mantle support.

Thats a pretty nice build, of course ill cheap out on the case(coolermaster, not cit level of course) and the cpu cooler will not be needed, i dont overclock a customers cpu as it could cause warrenty problem, if they want to overclock then im not responsible for the problems they create.

there is a reason why people with something like a 7770 dont use the apu part of the system if they have 1, for basic gaming like 720p on medium on dirt 3 its fine, for windows games and esktop tower defense its plenty but you cant game on it like you can with a dedicated gpu.

Thank you, i should hire you when i need to verbally destroy someone

I dont know if people are dillusional about the power an apu has (whcih is still good) or wether they are trying to s***w this kid over.

you are comletly right but i THINK in this scenario its a bit better to buy a little bit better apu and then buy a dedicated gpu becaus in case the guy wants to upgrade he would have to buy a new cpu(and mobo mabey) AND a new gpu now if he can just get a gpu to boost preformance

Athlon x4 CPU perf. = APU CPU perf.

WHY would he have to buy new cpu and mobo?

If he wants to upgrade gpu, he sells this one. You cant sell iGPU. Its just stuck there useless like a virus, that you payed 35 pounds extra for. ( 5800k) i wont even consider lower APU because even gt630 can outperform it. And I wont even mention horrible price / performance of 6800k going for 105 pounds.

While he can get HD7770 (gtx 460) for 14 quid more that that and play games @ 1080p at medium setting NOW.
