Gtx 1070 Gpu Usage Problem

When playing games on my gtx 1070 fe when the card 75 oc it will begin to clock its self down which cripples my framrates when i first got the card it never done this and has only started doing it recently

Weird if its true what your saying, a 1070 should throttle at >85C

ive even set the temp limit to max but nothing has fixed it

Power throttling? CPU bottleneck?

cpu is i7 3770 k but when im in game the cpu never hits 100 percent load its always around 60 -70 in overwatch it sits at 50 but the fps goes right down once the gpu hits 75 oc

Have you accidentally set the GPU to throttle at 75*C? Remove your Overclock.

on msi afterburner temp limit is 83 oc

The temp limit on it's own won't do nothing.

 

On afterburner, use a custom fan curve that kicks fans to 85 to 90% speed since you hit around 70c. Otherwise it will not increase fan speed and it will decrease frequency instead. I much rather have a slight noise (I really can't hear it over my game sounds over the speakers, but I do have a noisy room) than crap framerates.

but with the fans at that speed is it safe for long peroids or time ?

Yes, it just sounds like a jet engine
