Friend's part list

Railgun

My friend wants to build a PC for a decent amount of 1080p gaming and a lot of emulator gaming. I would like to know your opinions on this part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/QFZJyf

The processor might seem a bit overkill compared to the other parts but keep in mind that a big focus here is emulators which require a lot of processing power. Other than that, I don't really know much about motherboards so I have no idea whether or not the one in the build is good.

Thanks

i7-4790k | MSI Z97 GAMING-5 | Corsair Vengeance 16 GB | Samsung EVO-850 250GB SSD & WD blue 1 TB HDD | EVGA 1070 SC | Red NZXT H440 | Cooler Master G650W

Unless your friend can get the cpu, motherboard and ram at a significantly lower price than equivalent lga 1151 based parts I would suggest he picks an i5 6600k, 8 gigabytes of ddr4 ram, a z170 based motherboard and a cheap aftermarket cooler like one from the coolermaster hyper 212 series that everyone recommends or the new cryorig h7 (which would be ideal anyway considering he included an overclockable cpu with a suitable motherboard in the build). Regarding storage that ssd isn't the best but considering he paired it with a large mechanical hard drive he will be happy. The case choice is personal taste so I won't criticize it, also considering that it's a pretty good case for its price. I don't know about that power supply, unless he researched about it, he has read reputable reviews and he can assure that it's a quality unit, going with a power supply from the xfx ts series is usually a good choice

The SSD and power supply are fine, as for the rest, I had no idea the new skylake processors were the same price, lol. He doesn't plan on overclocking so would we be fine with just a cheap $10 such as this http://pcpartpicker.com/product/FNXfrH/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrht228pkr1? If he wants to overclock later he can just buy a better cooler.

As for the motherboard, I just picked out the only z170 board that similar to the price of the one in the original build. Here's the new build http://pcpartpicker.com/list/GdwgBP

The Capstone is better than the Photon.

You could look at getting a faster set of Ram (2666MHz+) depending on the price difference.

Also the Monitor you have selected is a Freesync, so it would be better with an AMD gpu such as the RX 480.
