You system wouldn't draw much more than 400W so something like these would be more than enough for both your system, networking equipment and peripherals.

Hi there,

I'm in the UK currently renting at a flat which might not have the best wiring. I got home today and found the circuit breaker had triggered so all the sockets in the house were disconnected. It hasn't been an issue before but it's happened twice today!

I'm getting components for my first desktop delivered tomorrow and the last thing I want is to risk it because of bad wiring.

Do people recommend using a UPS? I'm getting an EVGA G2 650W (550W models were out of stock...) so do I need a UPS with 650W rating, even if my computer won't use that much? (Though I may connect my monitor to the UPS if that's recommended too).

Thanks in advance!

I like the Cyberpower consumer UPS's over the APC since they deliver Pure sinewave vs simulated on the APC's. The UPS i have is a Cyberpower 1000PFCLCD. You can most likely get a smaller capacity one. In my UPS right now i have my monitor, mixer, and pc and its pulling 60 watts on casual use.

Thank you @W-L!

What about something like this (just a bit cheaper)? It's also 600W/1000VA

 http://m.ebuyer.com/752004

Yes that unit is still good a bit more of an entry level unit.

Okay. I might just put the extra money in if it saves my computer =)

Since the second one you recommended only has 2 UK plugs, would it still be safe to use a multiplug (extension cable) in one of them?

Thanks again for the super quick responses!

You can but will lose a little bit of efficiency with the extra connections when on battery backup.
