After replacing the thermal paste on my cpu, my pc refuses to go into windows.

The pc does post, I can get into UEFI just fine but after exiting, the pc hangs and the only thing on the screen is a single flashing underline. At this point the Dr. Debug on my board turns off as well.

So far I've reseated all components, checked the connections, re-built the system on a workbench and cleared cmos. Dr debug gives goes through the normal boot sequence without error codes and there are no peeps coming in through the speakers.

I should mention that it's an old build and everything was working fine before I replaced the paste.

MB: AsRock p67 Extreme 6

CPU : Intel 2500k

Ram: 2x g.skill f3-128200cl8d-8gbxm

Gpu: palit gtx 570 oc

Psu: evga supernova 850w g2

Ssd: ocz vector 150

Cpu cooler: Corsair h60

Os: 64bit win10 pro

EDIT:

Despite the fact that the new thermal paste has spread equally, and the fact that the pump is working, the cpu is heating up to 90s according to UEFI.

That's the thing.. I don't have another pc at hand at the moment so testing is that much more difficult.

And same thing goes for hdds. I've gotten too used to having multiple pcs around me that I never bothered to keep extra drives with active os installations on them.

Been trying to look for an usb stick with win10 to-go on it tho. I'll let you know if I manage to find it.

Update: tried the ssd on another pc and the the system hung at the same place. Seems like a registry corruption (fingers crossed) - cause is unknown.

Still haven't figured out why the cpu is heating up. Downclocked to prevent overheating but the temps are still rising, albeit a lot slower. The radiator stays cold to the touch as if the heat never got that far. Will have to look into it tomorrow.
