Cyber Security

Hey everybody,

I am looking at doing a degree in cyber security in the future and I want to learn a bit about the job. Is there anyone in the cyber security field who can tell me about their job. Is it very stressful, what sort of things do you do. I just want some insight into the field.

Thanks everyone

I've got a friend i worked with. He just got a cyber security related degree. Took him about 4 months then landed a good job starting at about 50K. Only reason took so long is because no prior experience. I've got another buddy who is in the sales side and got back from the big vegas show a few weeks ago. The statistic they stated is there is about 150K job needs in this field.

Tip: If you get a degree...consider the ethical hackers certificate. It's $1500 but will get you in quick. ...but stay ethical...the feds rounded up a bunch of hackers at the conference.

Currently getting my BS in CS with a cybersecurity specialization. There is a lot of non-technical work involved. You will need to be able to write and enforce good security policies. Interning you will find that the biggest threats to a company are internal.

Yes, sound advice. Having a security or law enforcement background is a big plus. From experience, internal investigations is a big part. When there is a lul externally investigations focus's internally. Friggin witch hunts can suck! ...sometimes warranted but usually just little crap.

Your BS in CS is that Cyber Security?
