I need help

Andrew Rackley

I currently have a hp elite 8000 with an e8500. It has a 330w power supply. I was wondering if i could upgrade my cpu to a q6600 and get a gtx 750 ti. Please tell me if this is a good idea nad if tge power supply can handle it.

no model names, UL code, anything else? if not, i'd recommend you swap it to something else. also, make sure your hp can fit the gtx 750ti before you buy it.

if you can't find any info other than made in China (10/9 of everything is made in china :P) then get a new psu. something like this antec vp450 will do just fine(make sure your mobo isn't using some proprietary crap). http://pcpartpicker.com/product/MnR48d/antec-power-supply-vp450

you need PCI E 16x on your motherboard to use a dedicated gpu

750ti uses 6 pin connector. check if your psu have it. look for one with

pci-e-power-connector-2.jpg

only a few models of gtx 750ti need the 6-pin connector, others don't have it.

Lite-ON OEM, i'm not sure about their quality, @STRMfrmXMN should know something about it(or lite-on as a whole). if it checks out fine, then any gtx 750ti without the 6-pin connector should be fine with it, but if you're adamant about the EVGA SC than get a new psu.

new psu it is then. antec vp450? or if you can, spend some more for a cx450m.
