chipset help

i may have to replace a motherboard on a dell xps 8500 3rd gen i7 lga 1155 mobo with a H77 chipset.

cant find any really since they are so old. but i found one on amazom but its a DH77KC and im clueless on what the D and KC stand for or if its even usable since it says media series board

alsochecked newegg but any other suggestion where to find one prefer new but sure its hard to find

Don't worry too much about matching the chipset. It really doesn't matter, just match the processor socket and the form factor and (providing you have a standard ATX power supply) you'll be good to go.

There are a range of chipsets available, just go with whatever's cheapest really. If you're very adventurous and up for a bargain there's loads of server stuff out there on s1155 for dirt cheap.

from what I'm seeing, that Dell XPS8500 is mATX:

 

the DH77KC will not fit; best to look for mATX boards

going to put it in a new case, upgrade power supply. its a dead rig im savaging parts from. all but mobo and HDD
