980ti Boosts higher with GPU Boost???

I have a Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme Gaming OC Edition...

I noticed the best way to run this card is with a custome fan curve... when I left the fans at stock it boosted to 1405mhz max... Any higher it would crash...

That being said, I decided to adjust fans to run 50% @ 60° 75% @ 70° and 100% any higher...

Well, I adjusted fancurve and left the card in "Stock" Gaming Mode.... I can play a game for an hour, my fans run at 75% (The noise isnt even noticable cause my case is sound dampened) Phanteks Evolv ATX... And this card boosts up to 1526mhz "consistantly" running in gaming mode on its own!!! GPU Boost has either been vastly improved or fan curves make that much a difference???

The card stays at 68-69° under full load!!!

Somone wana help me pinpoint exactly.whats happening?

Well, if gpu boost thinks there is more headroom, it will boost further. You are giving gpu boost that said headroom with ur custom fan curve.

Budget Rig "Curable":     | FX 6300 @4.5Ghz | Asus R9 270x | Asus Crosshair IV Extreme | 16GB HyperX Beast | 120GB PNY SSD

Tablet "Buddy":                 Trekstor Wintron 10.1|

Well the preset is an overall good enough mix and match between requirements according to the manufactor. But as with all, what they find good enough might be different for someone else. Also how well your GPU performs is sillicon lotery, and yes adjusting a curve can give better results in performance. Since boost tech of Nvidia works with several parameters your adjustment probably has indeed helped a bump in performance at the sacrifise of the exact parameters used standard for your brand.

Well, Its working wonders:) I suggest everyone allow GPU boost to do overclocking lol... I had to go into control panel and set the card to "Performance Mode" instead of "optimal"

My question was, before I adjusted fancurve I tried forcing the card past 1405mhz and It wouldnt go... But stock fan setting is, the fans would speed up accordingly based on temperature...  And the fans went up to 70% on their own, but the card would crash after 10 mins... This was in OCd mode.

How does it boost another 1000mhz in stock mode lol?

First time i heard a "stock" 980 Ti boost to 1.5Ghz+(200mhz+ over stock boost clock) out of the box without touching the clock speed.

Thats I was saying lol... GPU boost work better if the card is running stock? Or does pre-overclocking hinder the headroom?

All I know is from here on out, I won't be doing any manual core overclocks... I will adjust an aggressive fan curve and let GPU Boost work its magic lol.
