Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some help, on what to do with my system. Long story short, I upgraded my system a few months back and did not have the money to get a suitable graficscard. I will post specs of my existing rip down below. Currently I'm playing LoL and Minecraft, but I plan to do some more challenging games later this year. I have a single 1080p Monitor, but would like to keep the option open for a second 4k one. However, I will only play on one monitor and use the second one for information (ts3,...). My budget isn't set. I have the freedom to spend as little as nessessary, but as much as needed. I live in europe, more specifically in Germany. I am looking for suggestions on (1.) graficcard, (2.) 4k Monitor, (3.) any tips concerning my build [maybe I made mistakes and have to change stuff].
My specs:
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.50GHz
! 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
16GB HyperX Savage DDR4-2133
119GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series
931GB Hitachi storage
MSI Z170-A PRO
Alpenföhn Brochen Eco CPU fan
fractal design define R4 case
530W be quiet pure power
! iiyama ProLite E2208HDS
Roccat Isku
Roccat XTC Optical
Roccat Kave

My take on this is, I do not need a fancy looking grafic card, neither has it to be especially quiet, since the case does not allow you to look inside, and is dimming sound quite well. Furthermore, I expect the case to be large enough to take any grafic card and also have enough power to run it. If this is not the case please let me know. If any additional data is required feel free to ask for it, I will provide nessessary information asap.

Thank you for your help, have a nice day.

Best regards,

UltimateMC

Switch out them fans for some Noctua NF-F12s. They're expensive, but they're reliable as all hell in the long term.
Get rid of the optical drive, unless you have a specific need for it. They just take up space, make heat, and suck power.
A Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, 970, 1060 or 1070, or an AMD Radeon RX460, RX470 or RX480 are all sensible graphics cards for this build.

I would recommend the GTX 950 or 1060, or if you'd prefer AMD, the RX 470 or 480. Minecraft can "run" on integrated graphics, but you have to turn the settings down, and with shaders or modpacks, forget it. (*First hand experience with best buy blueshirts ripping me off with a $400 laptop that doesnt suit my needs). And LoL should run fine on a 950/1060, or RX 460 or 480. And if you want a second monitor for ts3 or skype etc, honestly any monitor will do. With my laptop I plug in an old monitor that was sitting in my basement, from like 2008, and it works fine. As for other recommendations on your build, not much, your CPU is very solid.

First of all, thank you for your answer, I'd like to specify that I intended to use my current monitor for the "infos" when I got a new one.

Hello fellow German!

Since Minecraft and LoL arent to demanding when it comes to GPU i guess you could go with a GTX 1060/1070, you would be able to play almost every new game in High Settings (not 4K) and secured for the future (VR etc.). If you want to spend less go with AMD still i wouldnt recommend it.

Also Good 4K Monitors will be very pricey (starting at 400 Euro) i would recommend to go with an Normal 1080p/2K 144Hz Monitor.. some of the cheapest 4K screens i could find in a quick search are these: Samsung U28E590D (for AMD/All) Asus PB287Q (All).

About the fans: these are case fans, right? Do i need those? I got 1 fan in the back, 2 more fans in the front and with the giant CPU fan I have temperatures below 30 degrees celcius. However, I did not find the time to play a games which would challenge the system.

Edit: corrected a spelling mistake

Yes, those are case fans. I will admit that I am slightly biased, but I still think that quality case fans are one of those things that make all the difference.
