Hi i got a new laptop at my school. everyone gets the same, and this year it is a shitty overprized hp with 4 gb ram a core i3 and 120gb storage (totla) (ssd though) and it has a shitty 12,5 inch 720p  fade coulored display. it is not free, we have to pay for it, only half price though, but if we destroy it it will be 800$ ish for a new one and there is no choice for another computer. (i am a bit sad about this :(...) but back to the question. every time i close the screen down the whole coputer shuts off, No exeption, windows and everything. even when in charger! how can i fix this? it annoys the crap out of me even though it only takes 30 secs to reboot (wonders of ssd). we don't use cloud based storage, so everything is beeing stored on the comtur, so if i forget to save my word document, and someone just closes my pc for fun, or i do it unitantinally, i can risk to lose the document i have worked hard on. Help Me!

Try this.

Go to Control Panel > Power Options > On the Left TOp side Click on:

  1. When i close lid and select : Do Nothing.

Also if you want nothing happend when someone presses Power button do the same for it.
