I know someone that is currently in the market for a laptop. The hitch is that he needs a refresh rate over 60hz. Any framerate at 60 or under gives him a headache. He was concerned that he would be able to find a laptop with a refresh rate high enough, but I assured him that most modern GPUs, even mobile, can play all games at 1080p over 60fps. Any recommendations?

Some of the newer ASUS ROG laptops have 75 Hz displays but I don't know the specific models.

Well it's a 17in 1080p 120hz 5ms panel that's currently available only only on the P870DM3. But because of pascal compatibilities, it should be 100% compatible with the P775DM2 and the P670RS. I've reached out and asked for custom P670RS containing the panel to Eurocom, but they haven't even launched their P670RS so I don't have a fucking reply yet.

Aorus has a 17in 1440p 120hz 5s panel that literally is causing hype, but praying to god it's not 25ms like the MSI ones. MSI done fucked up on all their 120hz 5ms panels because not only are they closer to 25ms, they're also TN. GG.

Additionally, all 17in GSync IPS from last gen or this gen should be 75hz. For some bloody reason they operate at 60hz at base and advertised, but most of them are 75hz in GSync and OCed up to around 100hz.

This is because they are 60Hz panels. They are BIOS-OC'd (with a flashed EDID) to 75Hz on some ODM models (like ASUS, MSI and NORTH AMERICAN Clevo rebranders like Sager), because 60Hz gsync is pretty much wasteful at 1080p. Places like Metabox did not offer this, as the panels are simply 60Hz.

Either way, any laptop that uses the LG LP173WF4-SPD1 or LP173WF4-SPF1 (the gsync 1080p panels from last gen) can fit the AUO B173HAN01.2, which is the 120Hz 5ms 94% NTSC IPS panel on the P870DM3. Whether you get gsync or not however would likely require a BIOS modification... and only Prema and Clevos can do that. If you're fine without gsync go right ahead =D.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I never understood why this ever occurred. Wouldn't retailers want to advertise 75hz instead of 60hz. Boggles my my mind that retailers wouldn't jump on the chance to charge extra for 75hz.
