6700k not boosting

Are you even listening to me? I just explained it to you: when your CPU is under load, it's supposed to run at 4.0ghz, not 4.2ghz. So if you are running Aida64 and applying load, it should run at 4.0ghz, and that's exactly what it's doing.

 

I'll repeat this once more: your PC is working as intended, whether you understand it or not.

friend just got a z170 deluxe with 6700k but the cpu wont boost. it is enabled in bios and pwoer managment mode is set to high performance. everything is stock no oc or anything. also only downclocks to 1600mhz and not all the down to 800mhz

try throttlestop and manually set it to boost clocks , i used it on my laptop to actually stop it boosing when browsing to squeeze out an extra 30~45m out of the battery

Im worried its a defect. It wont boost and wont downclock properly on all defaults. it will somtiems randomly boost to 4200 when is isnt even underload. when underlaod it sits at 4ghz no higher.

Grab HWMonitor and post some screenshots under load, please.

give it some more volts , had the same when oc´ing my FX , giving the voltage slider a nudge makes the boost happy

regarding adding volts etc they want to leave it fully stock and if its broken rma it. i see one core has a max of only 4ghz

I don't see what's wrong here... your CPU is running at 4.0 ghz, just like it was supposed to. It's working as intended.

why is it not boosting at 4.2 underload? check the "Core #3" on each pic is that normal?

Simply because it's not supposed to. When under a 2~4 cores load, your CPU is only supposed to run at 4.0ghz, not 4.2.
