Hey everyone, havnt posted on here in sometime. Now that Forza Horizon 3 and the Battlefield 1 beta (and the full game soon) is out, it's time for me to upgrade my PC. My build is currently; fx6350 watercooled, a XFX 290 watercooled (via G10), 16gb of 1866 ram, 860w EVGA Supernova PSU, and a Gigabyte 990fx mobo (I forget what model). Currently running the battlefield 1 beta, on high and ultra, I get an average of about 45 fps. Not to mention massive frame drops during headshots. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg again if I don't have to on upgrading so I was thinking just getting an 8350?? I know it's old, but... AMD. Would I benefit more if I switched to Intel on a budget?? Other alternatives??

Why would anyone want to go AMD right now? The Zen is like a corner around i suggest you should wait for Battlefield 1 to be released, Zen should show up by then, At least i think so.

Yeah, I'm hoping so. I'm just saying if it doesn't show up anytime soon.

Why not upgrade the gpu with the new rx 480. For less than 300 bucks you got  8GB of memory.

Could, I just feel like my old "6 core" is what is the biggest issue.

Gaming performance is about the same for both CPUs. If you want more FPS I will go with a better gpu.

First of all, use MSI Afterburner and see what is holding you back, CPU or GPU. Don't buy a new CPU assuming it's holding you back to later discover you were GPU bound.

And don't buy a 8350, it won't be a upgrade, games are just starting to use 4 threads, 8 won't be of much use. Gaming performance won't get much better, if at all in case you're GPU bound (The way it's meant to be).
