Hello,

I'm planning on finally creating my first gaming pc this week.

I've been looking into parts for a long time, and I think I've decided what I'll be going with.

Direct link to basket, gets to a price of about 1470 euros

Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001
Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
NZXT Source 340
Corsair CX Series Modular CX750M
Intel Core i5-6600K / 3.5 GHz
Corsair Vengeance LPX
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1070 OC
  Corsair Force Series LE

Would this be considered way too overkill for 1080p gaming? I need to be able to run all games atleast 60 fps and do video editting/streaming.

Are there any parts I could replace with better counterparts? If so, what?

Thanks in advance.

Johan

No actually I think it's spot on. The 1070 is kinda needed to guarantee 60FPS minimum (though your average at 1080p will be way above 100 for most games) and also by using shadow play you should be able to do good at streaming and video editing.

However if you want to prioritize the video editing a bit more you could downgrade to 1060 6gb and upgrade your CPU choice to the 6700k. This will still maintain 60 FPS (average, minimum too with minor tweaking on most settings) but be more snappy and faster to edit video and have better quality by encoding with the CPU instead of the GPU with shadowplay (which introduces a bit of a quality penalty afaik)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Thanks, I'll be sticking with a 6600k and the Strix 1070 then.

I've had a CPU cooler in mind, the Corsair H100i v2

https://azerty.nl/8-224-923268/corsair-hydro-series-h100i-v2-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler-vloeistof-koelsysteem-lga1156-socket-socket-am2-lga1.html

Are the ones you recommended better then that? Because if so I'll consider them.

Unless ofcourse there is a better cooling solution to be found in air cooling..

What exactly should I change about the PSU?

I'm looking for a modular one for sure so I can do proper cable management, I don't want to overkill too much on watts since I don't really intend to go SLI or anything.

Would it be more for the efficiency rating? and if so, what would be a PSU that'd look decent enough if I ever wanted to change cases?

The Kraken X61 is better and much quieter than the H100i

The other ones are a bit worse, but still quieter and cheaper.

I would take the Kraken out of all 4. Hard to beat it in performance.

What you should change about the PSU is its build quality and its ability to deliver clean, spikeless power to your system, among other things. The one you had isn't great especially considering its high price.

Grab this one if you want to save buck https://azerty.nl/8-1073-926893/corsair-cx-m-series-cx650m-v.html

We really need a pcpartpicker.nl, the number of people from there that want computers is too damn high!

I'll look into the Kraken then.

But would it be wise? Considering I'd have to place the radiator at the front of the case, wouldn't that compromise airflow through the case?

Someone told me it might. Hence why I'm asking.

I don't really see the difference between those PSU's but I may be overlooking because I'm on my phone.

If it has enough power to make me able to overclock I'll use it though.

Thanks!

Yes, the ambient temperature of your case will go up, but it shouldn't be a problem for temps. Tho GTX 1060 is a very efficient GPU and will stay nice and cool.

You can try, if you like, turning the fan on the back around and have the case flow back to front; with the rad fans exhausting through the front. That will require a dust filter for the back if you care about dust.

I see.

Wouldn't it be smarter to mount an extra fan at the front and get an aircooler for the cpu then?

Would maintain proper airflow and I believe there are aircoolers that are able to do their job just fine, I just have no clue what one to pick..

Would also be good since I have no clue how to perform maintenance on watercoolers.

For air coolers, Noctua NH-D15S is my go to choice. But it's heavy, so much so that you run the risk of bending your motherboard if you move the case around with i installed.

For less massive coolers, Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Slim or Cryorig H5 Ultimate do the job just fine as well.
