Files not showing

Today i bought a new Hard disk , I had my previous files stored in my friends pc , so i went to his place formatted my drive then copied those files and it was working.

After i plugged the hard disk inside my pc it didn't showed me any files but its showing me the hard disk full to some extent becoz i coped the files from my friends pc .

all i can see is $RECYCLE.BIN file and a bootsqm.dat file , did i just lost all my data :( is it possible to get out of this nightmare
