Not compatible with windows 8???

A friend is complaining to me that the powerline kit he bought isn't compatible with Windows 8. Which I, without actually looking at what hes doing, am calling bullshit on, because pretty much anything that works with windows 7 should work on windows 8.....

but it might be beyond me so is there any factors that i should look for into resolving this problem?

I was thinking maybe

Drivers

Bad cable

Out-Dated Box and he just doesn't want to try it.

EDIT: Model is Linksys PLWK400, he also bought 2 kits so he can connect his compouter and TV

If he is using it as a wireless, thing, then there is a small risk that it might not be compatible (very very small though).

If it's wired then I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be compatible, since Windows just needs to send regular Ethernet packets (like basically all computers does exactly the same, including Windows 7 and 8) and then the PowerLine kit handles the rest like normal. It's like saying you can't use the mailbox because you moved from an apartment to a house. The mail is still the same, the mailbox is still the same, and the mailman is still the same.

Not everything that works on Windows 7 works on Windows 8.  For example. Zyxel's SecuExtender 2.5 client which is a part of their SSL VPN setup will not work on Windows 8 but will on Windows 7.  You need the SecuExtender 3.0 client which sadly is still in beta.  Granted this is a more business oriented feature and most sane businesses are still in the process of Windows 7 migrations so not a huge issue on that front.
