Asus Strix RX 480 8GB OC

-X-

Well after a long period of painful waiting and researching and all I've come to the conclusion of which GPU currently available is the best for me, as the title implies the Strix RX 480.

I'd like to hear opinions about it, is it a good buy? Cause the only other choices are

- reference 480 (3 big reasons to why I don't want the reference)

- Nitro 480 4GB (not so good cooler and just 4GB)

- Strix, Gigabyte and Nitro 470s all 4GB (well a bit weaker and just 4GB, wanted a Gaming X 8GB one but sold out everywhere)

so as you can see the Strix 480 is (hopefully) the best choice I have.

It's for 1080p gaming, yes I know 8GB isn't needed right now but I wanna have that extra 4GB if it needs even just 4,5 or 5GB, the extra 4 CUs and with this one the beefy triple fan cooler that Asus has put on this beast.

My rig:

- i5 6600 (non K)

- Asus B150M Pro Gaming mobo

- Hyper X Fury 8GB DDR4 2133mhz RAM (8GB more planned)

- ???Asus Strix 480 8GB??? (currently Gigabyte HD7770 1GB)

- Hyper X Fury 120GB SSD

- WD Blue 1TB

- (currently) WD Blue 500GB

- Cooler Master B600 600W PSU 80+ certified

- Fractal Design Define R4 Black (also: 2x140s front intake, 1x120 rear exhaust, 1x120 side panel exhaust from the GPU)

I hope I won't make a mistake if I go for the Strix 480, also the 2 connectors for case fans on it would be nice since if I put any more fans I'd have to connect them to the PSU directly which kinda sucks so this would be cool.

1060 if you can afford the jump, if not RX 480 is a great card.

Well every bit of money counts right now since I'm already over the planned budget, but I don't really want a 1060 cause the 480 should age better and I'm used to AMD. Idk maybe if some day I have enough money for a GTX x80/x80ti but not these lower end cards.

but also I kinda hoped for thoughts on the Strix model not as much on the fact that it's a 480 xD

Have you checked Red Devil RX480?

It's one of the best in my opinion. Very quiet and good clocks.

I have, tho sadly the only store that has those, well doesn't have them anymore :\ it was cheaper than the Strix tho, I guess that's why they sold them all. Only choice they left me with is the Strix or reference :D

Well I got this beast today, but you know I CAN'T USE IT >:( my stupid monitor (Also Asus) has only VGA and the fucking sexy beast has as you know HDMI and DVI *D*. But I did use my 7770 through it's DVI *I* BUT DVI *I* with the extra 4 damn pins and I bent them but the flat pin is also larger than on DVI D so FUCK. Now I borrowed a DVI I to VGA adapter from a friend to use the 7770 until I get a DVI D to VGA adapter. Gonna go see tomorrow if a hardware shop has those, it should, GOD PLEASE LET IT HAVE DVI D TO VGA.

So yeah the Strix 480 sitting next to me in the box..........the paaaiiiiiiiinnn
