Well, that's a second-gen i7… It's in a completely different class than the Q8300. Of course it's hard to find gaming benchmarks directly comparing the two, but you mentioned a Cinebench score of 280 cb for your system—the i7-2600K scores around 670 cb at stock. It's a much, much faster CPU.

 

I'm not saying you do or do not need a new CPU before you get a new video card, just that the 2600K's results don't mean much for your system.
