Hello!

I was wondering which card provided better value for their cost, a 1070 or a 1060.  I do 1080p gaming.

Thanks!

The 1070. While it is a bit overkill, the 1060 isn't quite up to the 1080p max standard either. Get the 1070 and turn on some DSR and AA goodness for an even better experience.

Buy the 1060... It's fine for 1080p 60fps and a bit more...  The 1070 is overkill for 1080p(Not that I am not buying it for that:P)

OP asks for which one has the better performance to cost ratio.

the gtx 1060 will be the best for 1080p 60fps. if you're doing 1080p 144hz or 1440p then the gtx 1070 would be the better option.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

1060 3GB or 6GB?

@elbarto2003

This will help you a lot.  Performance per dollar between the 1060 6GB and the 1070 is almost exactly the same, with a few percent worse value on the 1070.

I'm getting over 150fps usually on TF2 with my 950 at 144Hz.  My friend, who also has a 950, is pairing that with an ultrawide monitor and is getting over 100fps on Overwatch.  Also, I don't really play graphics-intensive games.  Correct me if i'm wrong, but from my experiences, I don't think I need a 1070 for 1080p 144Hz 100+fps gaming.

It really depends on what you play and will play and what settings are those maxed out?. What resolution are those at? I don't think a 950 can do 100 fps maxed at even 1080p let alone a 21/9 1080p or 1440p. Those games yes aren't demanding but some games are harder to run above 60 fps. I figure if you have 144hz you will want to play at 144 fps. The 1060 will get that in those types of games might need to lower settings. 60 fps at 1080p maxed thats what a 1060 does well above that and it can struggle. if you want to play games at 144 fps maxed (maybe a bit lower or same games like ashes of the singularity much lower ) get the 1070. I suggest looking up a game and the graphics card on youtube and there are sooo many videos that show the fps.
