Not sure if this belongs here or in general / social but...

Been planning my first water cooled custom loop for a while, and now most of my parts have arrived I'm starting to get cold feet!

I've done a lot of planning and will be careful and follow all the guides and walkthroughs, but looking for some reassurance that I won't a) destroy EVERY part in my computer (i can cope with losing 1 maybe 2 components) and b) more importantly i won't burn the house down with my wife and child in it due to causing an electrical fire :-\

shouldn't be a big deal. the scarey thought of fire is over-reaction.

take your time, it isn't a race. start with the CPU loop and get comfortable with the how-to and why, then venture into the GPU loop side.

the system is already built, just improving the cooling with different parts.

system got built without fire.. so it should have no more issues working with water.

take it slow, and use lots of towels when you first fill and test the loop. As long as you take your time and double check your connections, it will be fine.

It's not so much the initial build and leak test i'm worried about - at the end of the day i'll be there and monitoring it closely. Plus if there's a leak at that point i can pull the plug and nothing is switched on anyway apart from the PSU.

It's more after that if a leak springs and I am not at home / upstairs asleep

The 24 hours of leak testing is there for a reason. If it passed that you'll have a very small chance that a leak will happen while you're not near your PC. You can shutdown the PC and turn off the PSU when your not using your PC. So in case your loop would leak it wont short circuit anything, which maybe give you some peace of mind?

A first loop can bit scary at first but you'll get more comfortable with it as time passes. Starting simple with 1 radiator, pump/res combo and a CPU block will minimize the point of failures. Start with soft tubing as it's easier to route trough your case to you components.

Yeah i'm just being worried for nothing i think, going to proceed with it as planned.

Had a quick test fit of radiators and fans today, think it already looks excellent!
