Hey everyone,

So, until the end of the year I want to have a new pc built. I got tired of my laptop crashing and not really handling all the games and workload that I was putting him through.

I am an Informatics Engineering student (computer science I believe it's what's called in English) and so I code quite a lot but I also play a lot of games.

As for the build, here's what I have so far:

Asus GeForce Gtx 1060 Turbo Gb GDDR5

Dimm 8GB DDR4 Kingston CL13 2133Mhz Hyper X fury black
Western Digital SATAIII 1TB 7200rpm 64Mb Blue 6Gb/s
Seasonic M12II Evo Edition 620W 80 Plus Bronze Modular
Motherboard Asus Skt1151 - H170M-Plus
Intel i5 6500 3.2Ghz QuadCore Skt1151
SSD Samsung 850 EVO SATA 250GB

My budget is around 1200€, i don't to go over but if it has to go a bit I won't mind.

I have to get a monitor (think best is a widescreen one), keyboard (would like a good mechanical one), MousePad and a Mic.

If you have any suggestions for parts and the peripherals I would greatly appreciate it

(I live in Portugal, some parts are more costy around here)

Thanks for the help and sorry for English

Didn't thought much about it to be honest, I think Black and red\Yellow, or just overall blue would be good though

This is better than your current build!

Getting a single 1070 is better than getting two RX 480 if you want to avoid crossfire issues. Not all games support crossfire well enough and you can end up with a single RX 480 or stuttering even with top end CPUs in some games

(Yeah I know those are not RX 480s but they showcase general crossfire performance)

Moreover generally for gaming performance you will be better off with a i5 for current games even when not overclocked, only a couple games make use of all of the FX 8370 cores in the current market of AAA games:

Looks fine for 1080p gaming. Maybe get a 520W PSU since it's more than enough for the 1060 or get a better cooled 1060 if the price difference isn't too high from the Asus turbo. But, all in all looks fine.

How much do the i5 6600 and the i5 6400 cost compared to the i5 6500?

Not much

i5 6400 - 185€
i5 6500 - 210€

i5 6600 - 250€

Compared to the i5 6400 the i5 6500 gets you around 7 percent more gaming performance for a 13.5% higher price and the i5 6600 gets you around 8.7% more performance for a 19% higher price. That's with a 980Ti though so the gain is not as much with a 1060, it's up to you which one you take.

All right, thanks for all the help. Btw, do you have any advice on monitors? I was advised to go for this one:

By the way I corrected a percentage, the i5 6500 is only around 8.7 percent slower in the games I checked. The monitor looks decent if you are after a ultrawide if the user reviews are to be trusted, though do keep in mind that the PPI isn't the best but if you can deal with it, it's a fine monitor. Bu,t the 1060 might not be able to pull 75Fps in all AAA games in ultra 2560 by 1080 but the 1070 can.

You also need HDMI, it doesn't have display port.
