Recently I lent my computer to my brother which ultimately led to constant blue screens and an error where the HDD suddenly wasn't detected by the mobo anymore... So I already tried switching SATA ports and that didn't work. I reset my entire computer, that didn't work either. I scanned it and nothing was found. Not sure what is causing the computer to crash but I know it might be mobo or HDD related. I would really appreciate some help from more experienced people considering this might be a tough fix for me. :-(

Specs:

  • FX-8320
  • Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard
  • EVGA GTX 960 4GB
  • Windows 10 Home

(All drivers are updated to their latest versions)

maybe the drive is damaged?

could've been caused by him dropping or kicking the machine

Try to boot into safe mode with networking, press F8 when the moment you see your post screen, then get a program called blue screen view, this allows you to see the error code and message and other notes on it. While you are there I recommend backing up your stuff encase you need to reinstall windows.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
