Most if not all the components are black though...

I've recently been trying to find parts for a custom gaming pc for that i'm willing to spend around 2700 - 3000 on. I don't have plans for overclocking. Here's the list of parts, and was wondering if there were any suggestions for it.

Corsair CX Series, CX600, 600 Watt

Samsung 24x SATA DVD+RW DVD-Writer(just in case)

Intel 730 240GB SSD

Intel i7 6700K(overkill?)

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x 8gb)

Corsair h100i

Corsair Graphite 780T(black)

MSI gaming geforce gtx 970

ASUS rog maximus viii extreme/assembly(overkill?)

WD blue 1TB

if the 6700k is overkill the i7-4790k is another option.

If you're just planning to game, get a i5-6600K (if you plan to overclock. if not get a i5-6600) and use some of the money saved to get yourself a 10 series GPU

His budget is super healthy man.

Well I think he should get a 6600K and use the saved money on say a GTX 1070, which is much much better then a 6700K with a 970

Quite a lot...

Ok, i didn't know that, i'm relatively new to building computers, as you can tell by the title of the post. And yes, that's in us dollars.

I'll make a list with at least a 6800k and 1080. Give me 5-10 minutes.

At this budget, trying to save money by skimping on components is a little stupid.

$3k can easily get you 6700k + 1080.

Well yeah lol, i guess if he wants he can get a 6700 and a GTX 1080. Seeing as he does not intend to overclock

Can even SLI that 1080 if he wanted to, but yea, I would be super grateful with single 1080 anyday anytime, lol.

I don't see myself spending 3k on one hobby as I'm into cars as well and car is a bitch to maintain.

Ya, i'll be adding a monitor to the mix so I'm trying to squeeze that in to the budget as well. So probably won't be having an SLI anytime soon.

That M.2 SSD is not faster than the regular 850 EVO as it also runs on SATA 3. It gets much hotter though. You will have to get the 950 PRO if you want something faster. And also if the main purpose of the build is gaming then a 6700K would be a better option.
