My first build

I am going to start to build my first PC since my laptop is old, slow, and dying. This will have to be a general use computer; some light photo and video editing, maybe some capture and gaming later on when I can afford a graphics card that will make it worth it.

I have a budget of around $800 US and was thinking about this:

Intel I7 6700k

Asus Z170A Mobo

16 GB 2133Mhz HyperX Fury 

Corsair CPU cooler

and a EVGA 750 GQ semi modular power supply was going to get the platinum but amazon has it on sale for 54.99 today (8-18-16)

 

I have old hard drives ill use till i can get an SSD and large capacity HD 

 

Planning on using an old case I have if it fits, if not ill need one of those to

 

Thoughts? Issues?

What GPU is it gonna be?

Make sure your case fits the items, or get a new one with good airflow. Otherwise, it's a good way to start off with this and add on to it later.

H60 is not worth it. I would say just buy a decent air cooler.

H100 or something like the Noctua NHD15, which is cheaper and VERY good. Also, don't buy a GTX 970 now, try to get an RX 480 or GTX 1060. Or a 980/980 Ti used for cheap.

Your PSU is overkill even if you did 1080 SLI, even 550 can SLI 1070s. 

 

People always spend too much for watts they don't need. Buy a PSU one model up from what you need, not two or three.
