My computer will randomly turn off, then turn back on, not a restart but an instant blackscreen. I searched this up quite a bit and it does seem like I'm not the only one having this problem. My build is basically a changed up version of the Ultimate distributed... guide on Linus Tech Tips. - Video

MOBO: Asus ROG Rampage V Extreme

GPU: 980ti
CPU: i7 5820k Cooler: Kraken x61
Case: NZXT Noctis 450

PSU: Hale 90v2 1200 watt

Now before I talk about the actual problem, when I first built my computer the powersupply just did not work. I double checked, and replaced some of the cables on my PSU and it finally was able to turn on, and that was that. I just came back from a 2 month trip out of country and the powersupply was switched off but plugged in during this time.

My computer will randomly restart when I'm playing minecraft, cs go. I run shaders in minecraft, and run CSGO basically at it's highest settings, neither of which I had a problem before. Usually it's when my GPU is hovering around 80 degress Celsius which the internet claims isn't an abnormal temperature. While looking into this problem, some suggestions said that my powersupply was unable to handle the load required for my GPU and this was what caused it to suddenly fail, which would explain why my Kraken cooler and Motherboard still have their LEDS on when this happens. Now since this is a 1200 watt powersupply I'm pretty sure that it can handle the GPU while under "high" loads, but the powersupply could also be faulty which would explain a lot.

I got this psu around 2 1/2 months ago off of amazon, and its a $250-$300 PSU so I definitely do not want to buy a replacement if it is the problem. So I was wondering if I could somehow solve this problem some other way. Can anyone help me? (and if I do need a new PSU would I contact amazon for a return, call nxzt, or ???)

A good way to find out if the problem is with your PSU is to run the system with a known-good PSU (I'm assuming you don't have one) and see if the failures still occur. Double check all of your cables for loose or damaged power cables/connections. Really double check all of your components for good connections. Aside from the PSU being faulty, I would also check the motherboard for physical damage to capacitors (probably not likely, but possible). Running a memory diagnostic would also be a good idea, as memory issues have a tendency to create weird and hard to explain problems. Not to treat you like an idiot or anything, but could the issue be your display shutting down? Making sure that your OS is functioning properly couldn't hurt either. As for the GPU, try the system with a known-good part.

I have a Hale90v2 which was in linustechtips ultimate distributing guide.

It ran fine 2 months ago, not anymore. MOBO is undamaged, unless dust damaged it.
None of the cables are lose.
Don't think it is a memory issue, since this only happens when I am under high gpu loads.
My gpu is a nvidia geforce gtx 980ti which is a known-good part.
OS is Windows 8.1 Pro, works fine, just not activated
