Noob RAM question

So, I will be using 2 sticks of 8GB of DDR4 2133 memory. I can just add 2 more sticks of the same ram later down the road for 32gb, no issues? I watched a video and guy was talking about how x99 boards support quad channels and z170 is only dual. So, that means my m5 gaming z170 board won’t be able to use 32gb via 4 sticks at all or just less efficiently than a x99?

 

What If I went and bought 2 more sticks of 8GB ram, twice? Totaling 6 sticks 8BG, sum 48GB, of DDR4 ram? What If I went and filled up all 8 ram slots with 8GB, maxing out the boards? How would that compare to 2 32GB sticks?

 

Also, would the ram have to be the same frequency to work together at all, or the same frequency to work together well? 

 

Realistically, 16GB is fine for me, but I am beginning to enjoy throwing money into a PC......

yeah. X99 stripes data between 4 sticks in a  single channel but skylake does only 2 sticks

What does that mean if I were to put in more than 2 sticks? Why are there so many ram slots then?

you get more space but don't increase read or write speeds. X99 has it because it is designed for prosumers, servers or enthusists who can use more than 32GB of ram.
