Enough watt for sli? And does it all fit in and on each other?

Wolf ~ IRONI

Hello there! i have got a 520 watt psu and my build only need 350. and i am thinking about sli'ing so thats + 120 watt = 470 watt. its a 520 watt psu good enough for it? and does sli need more watt than just 2 gpus without sli?

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Wolfiowww/saved/m8znTW

Does all these things fit on and in each other? can i just build this pc without problems of having the wrong parts so i cant build?

Thanks for reading and maybe helping :)

yes. The 1070 and 1080 are the only cards in the 10 series that are going to support sli.

the 1060 cant be put in sli you either have to go to the 900 series or step up to 1070 and above, a 520 watt psu would be rather tight for sli either way and i would recomand getting a 650 watt bronze+ psu instead

the only psu that gets close to that price is this one https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jscMnQ/rosewill-power-supply-photon650 but i have never heard of this brand before so i need some feedback from other people on this forum to know if it is good

either get an air cooler or get a 240/280mm water cooler, 120mm water coolers have about the same cooling as tower air coolers.... only difference is acoustics really and you could fix that by getting a h50/55 instead of something that expensive.

also the 1060 cant sli, get a 1070 or a rx 480 if you are planning on 2 gpu's or a single strong gpu. for the psu, go for EVGA's GQ, GS, G2 lineup, CORSAIR's RMX, RMI, HXI, AXI/AX, lineup, or something similar. you will have to spend more, but you get features like a hybrid fan mode and fully modularity

thats not "sli" per say... its using a dx12 feature called explicit multi adapter or something like that.. its like SLI, but it isnt nvidia supported and doesnt require an SLI bridge.. also currently its up to game devs to implement that feature, so dont expect it in all games

yes it is(only because it is thicker and comes with a better fan), but it is twice as expensive and it allows the cpu to be like 3C cooler. its not worth it IMO, its only for aesthetics. that is why i said get an air cooler or go for a 240/280mm rad, they are $20-$30 more expensive and would be more aesthetically pleasing and would cool the cpu even better for the price

Notice the lack of an SLI connector up top? Nvidia recommends a GeForce GTX 1070 or 1080 to gamers looking for more performance than a 1060 delivers (of course), and does not support SLI on the 1060.

Technically, you can run two GTX 1060's on Dx12 games that support explicit multi-GPU. Which is as far as I know, only Ashes of the Singularity.

Does this mean that everyone should go out and buy a pair of 1060's? Heck no. Unless all you are doing is Ashes of the Singularity.

Edit: And this also means that it's a game-per-game basis if multiple card is going to work or not. Something that most developers doesn't like optimizing for.
