Driver Issues

My friend just bought a used r9 290 and he wants me to test it in my build, which has relatively new parts.  I have a r9 390, so would I still need to reinstall drivers even if these cards are kind of the same?

Same drivers across the 7000-400 series. You're fine.

I ran 390 drivers on a 290 all the time. Ran  great.
