Most likely, you'll be fine. Just clear the CMOS and power it on, should work like a charm.

Are you sure your motherboard is FM2+ not just FM2? If it is FM2+ then you're good to go, swap it in and boot up. If you have an fm2 motherboard then you'll need a new motherboard and you'll have to reinstall

Hello, I built a pc a while back that has a amd x2 370k in it, I want to upgrade to a amd x4 845. Would I need to do a fresh windows install? It is the same socket and all other parts will be the same. Thanks.

What motherboard do you have currently?

The motherboard I have in it is "Biostar Micro ATX DDR3 800 FM2 Motherboard A58MD" I got from amazon. In the description it says fm2+/fm2. It should work then.

Yeah you're fine. Just clear the cmos and you'll be fine with not installing Windows again. To clear cmos, unplug the tower from the wall, remove the battery from the motherboard and wait a minute or two then pour everything back together.
