I'm handing down my current PC to my brother and building a new one. I'll be using my 970 and storage. Looking for suggestions and input.

Still browsing for a good case.

What gpu are you using?

I'll be using my current 970 until I get a 1070, if I end up buying one.

I'd certainly get a bigger cooler like a NH-D15S

Get an RMx or P2 PSU, some other models are also fine like the Rosewill Quark.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Wattage?

And is it worth it to pay 20 dollars more for a bigger cooler?

It is if you're looking to get every last Hz out of your CPU. If you don't really care about that, then you don't need to go overboard on a cooler. And if you don't care about every last Hz you could even save a few bucks on your cooler and get something like a Cryorig H7. The H7 would also be a decent aesthetic match for your PC.

As far as a good case goes, MOST people really love the NZXT S340 for its price, aesthetics, build quality, and build experience. Tough to really recommend anything for you though, as I do not know what sort of aesthetic you're interested in, your pricepoint, or your desired features.

It also does not look like you have a PSU chosen yet, I would recommend an EVGA G2 or P2 for your system. As far as wattage goes, that depends on your budget and what sort of upgrades you plan to do to your system. If you're only ever going to have 1 GPU in your system, then its likely you will not need more than 500-600 watts. You would only need more than that if you wanted heavily overclocked CPU, and 2 or more power intensive GPU's. You can get other PSU types and brands, but those are among the most affordable high quality units on the market atm. Corsair RMX and RMi are also a decent investment.

Thanks. I'll be buying an optical disk drive, so that case won't work. I'm using a Corsair Carbide 300R right now and I like it enough. I'll look around.

Using the RM 750w right now, might go for the RMx 650 or 750 (the 750 is cheaper for some reason).
