- Good 250GB SSD for fast boot

- Small form factor, no need to use a big tower for the system

- i3-6100 more than capable of driving your dad's needs

- Good reliable PSU with 5-year warranty

While there is a plethora of builds and guides on $500+ US gaming computers and workstations, there seems to be very little to no builds for basic browsing and whatever it is really old guys do on computers.

Pcpartpicker has a few decent cheap builds, but I'm not sure if I can trust them.

Long story short, I'm not knowledgeable enough to confidently build a computer under $400 US that will serve the sole purpose of being able to let my 66 year old dad watch movies, browse the internet, check his email, and pay bills.

Preferred:

  • SSD for OS
  • Support for 2 monitors (we have adaptors
  • Desktop, no laptops or AIO
  • Parts to be purchased online within the US
  • Windows 10

Parts Not Needed:

  • Peripherals
  • Monitors
  • DVD/Blueray drive
  • Turnip

All assistance and guidance is appreciated. I searched the forum before posting this so if I missed a thread that fulfills my request I apologize.

I mean just fit in the cheapest one available, from my experience they are more silent than the stock cooler

Thank you all for the build suggestions. I decided to go with EnergyCore's build because of lack of mail in rebates (less hassle) and the savings of not having an after market cpu cooler. I highly doubt the cpu will ever get hot enough to throttle and with how old my dad is I doubt his hearing is good enough to be bothered by the fan noise.
