So here's the dealio.

I've got a very nice machine at present, running an i7 6700K Overclocked to 4.5 GHz. 16GB of 2133 HyperX memory and some forgettable SSD. Running a 970, it's out in the living room running our HTC Vive.

Now the crux of the problem, the computer is out in the living room. This means I can't be anti-social and avoid communication with any other human beings when I'm gaming (don't judge me, you do it too.)

I've ordered parts for a new M-ITX build I'd like to take on and share with the people here. The list goes like this:

Intel Core i5-6600

ASRock Mini ITX DDR4 LGA 1151 H110M-ITX/AC

x1 8GB Stick of HyperX 2133 DDR4 ram (to upgrade in the future, 70 bucks is way too much for 16GB.)

EVGA Supernova G1 G2 650 Watt Fully Modular Power Supply.

All enclosed in the cheapest M-ITX Case that wouldn't cut me if I hardly touched it. The Coolermaster Elite 130.

Finally: Either an RX480 or GTX 1060. I need you guys to ultimately help me decide. As I see it currently:

The $240 8GB RX 480 is a card with the mentality of "You get what you pay for." A  card with $240 dollars of performance.

A $300 GTX 1060 is also a card that you get what you pay for. My budget allows for either or, and it'd be nice to make the most informed purchase.

This may also help, my list of games I'm planning to play:

War Thunder

CS:GO

Garry's Mod

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.

Cities: Skylines

I will be sure to update with pictures (linked via imgur) and benchmark results. I'm happy to reply to any questions and suggestions you have.

EDIT 1: Got some helpful feedback informing me that I'm one generation behind on the power supply. No big deal however.

Decided to go with a GTX 1060, likely an FE model. Will keep posting as progress is made!

EDIT 2: Changed to the G2 Model of the Supernova Power Supply based on suggestion and provided article: http://www.overclock.net/t/1476935/why-you-should-not-buy-an-evga-supernova-nex650g-750g-aka-g1

EDIT3: This is a big one incoming. A enough parts, but not all, came in to make a running computer. As promised, here's the end result via imgur: http://imgur.com/gallery/qQZgC

Using imgur made it so much easier to handle, and I don't think anyone would have appreciated 15 different links. At this point we're still waiting on the GTX 1060, Supernova PSU, and Samsung 850 EVO. Will get back with the benchmarks of this. So far I'm quite happy!

Scrap the power supply and get the G2 version instead. Personal preference is the Elite 110 as it's cheaper though smaller or the Silverstone SG13. As for graphics card the 480 has more potential in the future with vulkan but the 1060 is Nvidia so you really both will do the job it's just if you want to use AMDs software.

Very nice build, and I would have loved to go with something up to that spec, however: I don't need the high end motherboard audio or USB 3.1 that bring the cost up. If I did, it would have been a very nice choice. Furthermore, this is my first ITX build, and while I've been tinkering with computers for years I'm not used to the small form factor. The 130 VS the 110, I need the extra space in the 130 to keep things tidy. I love what you did with the RX 480 cooling!

This is a blind side on my part, and I wan't aware of the G2 family. Unfortunately the G1 is already on it's way, and I'd rather save the $20 and hassle that it would take to exchange them.

As for the 1060 vs 480, I've decided I don't need need another 970 (referring to it's equal performance to the 480.) The DX12 performance is disappointing, however there are not enough games currently running on it to justify going with an inferior GPU for current titles. 1060 it is.

It is worth the hassle http://www.overclock.net/t/1476935/why-you-should-not-buy-an-evga-supernova-nex650g-750g-aka-g1

Thanks for the article. This is convincing enough for me, so I'll switch to the G2 model. Thanks!
