Upgrading time!

Hello everybody! I'm Lucas, I live in Argentina. I have since 2012 my computer. Since then I upgraded the gpu and power supply.

 

My actual configuration is:

 

CPU: FX 4100 @ 4.1

Mother: GA-880gm-usb3l Gigabyte

GPU: R9 270x

RAM: 2x4gb ddr3 hyper x

Power Supply: Thermaltake 750w

HD: 1tb WD

 

I use this computer strongly for gaming, I have a 23" monitor and usually I clone the image to a 42" both 1080p.

 

So, Every day its turning more difficult to this pc to achieve the glorious 60fps on the actual games and I'm saving money. The really backdrop is that I'm on Argentina so everything cost 50% more.

 

In this moment I have around 290usd and my old system. I assume that around December I will have around 450usd.

 

So what should I do? What should I prioritize 'cpu and mother' or gpu?

Although my normal response would be to upgrade the GPU, any GPU you buy will be heavily bottlenecked. It would depend of your budget really. But I cant find any good budget GPU that would be significantly better than the R9 270, so I am going to say CPU.

RX 470 and if you can maybe a i3 or i5? (FX-4100 kinda have a reputation for being the worst CPU AMD made...)

I agree; I should look for Intel or Amd? Something like an I54690k maybe? What do you think? ?

If you go for an i5 4690K and a compatible mobo you'll probably already blow a good amount of your budget though... (what's pricing in Argentina?)

If your board can handle a FX-6350 without throttling that can be worth it to tough.

 

Edit: Nope forget it the board is only for 95w...

Yes, I can buy an Asrock Z97pro4 and the I5 4690k for all my concurrent money without selling my old components. It is $6500 pesos that means usd$435 but those have the acquisitive power of $290.

It can probably do FX-6300 but then you cannot OC it at all...

Yes, It's an old mother. I will go slowly, first grab a new mother and cpu, sell my old components grab more money and then buying a new gpu. I assume that in Christmas with all the selling discounts and everything I would be able to get something good for my money. The starting point is to decide which cpu to buy ?

i think the i5 is a great idea. save up your money after that to get a rx 480 4gb or 8gb model.

 

you should be fine after that! (although if you can get skylake, i obviously recommend that more than haswell refresh, but they perform around the same)

 

OH, and get rid of the psu soon, unless it is a toughpower fully modular version, TT isnt known for having good psu's
