Hello all, before I get into the guts of the problems lemme first post my system specs: i7 6700k, GTX 980 Ti SLI, 16gb DDR4, 256gb SSD, 1TB HDD. All drivers are updated.

Now the problem... Every time I start playing a game... Lets say ESO(Elder Scrolls Online), I start lagging hard core... my fps drops and my latency goes skyhigh, So I look in task manager and I see.. the image that is attached..

Only way I found to remedy the problem is too do a restart... symptoms go away for about 2 hours and bam happens agian.

Anyone know anything about this? I google'd it and there's a ton on this but for different reasons..

Any help would be appreciated!

Possibly a motherboard issue?

Please post the name of your motherboard.

That suggests turning off superfetch. Considering you have an SSD (which I'm assuming is the C:\ drive), superfetch does very little to help what it was supposed to do in the first place.

EDIT: Some further digging into Google also suggests that this is an idle task, so if you're not actually experiencing any performance degradation, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'll give the superfetch a try, Post back on here in a couple hours.

It actually is making a performance hit... Even outside of games, youtube starts loading weird... static starts playing with the audio..

If you have 16GB of RAM, and you have it 98% maxed with only a few MB used, you may be running a 32-bit OS.

Go into Control Panel > System and Security > System.

Find "System Type", and look for 64-bit OS, x64 based CPU.

If you have a 32-bit OS, you can only use 4GB of RAM. (Gigabytes)

If you have a 64-bit OS, you can use 16 EB of RAM. (Exabytes, aka 1billion GB)

If you see x32 based processor, or 32-bit OS, this means you can only support 4GB RAM.

100% sure its 64bit. Not that illiterate in the pc world :P

Hmm, have you messed with your BIOS/UEFI in any way to cause this reading to be faulty?

I have the CPU OC'd too 4.6, and the RAM is on the XMP profile at 3000mhz. (Which is what the RAM is rated for)

Pic shows 1500mhz for the ram, but it is in duel channel so x2 it.

I know how dual channel memory works. xD

anyways, can you list what kit of memory you are using?

If you enabled the "recommended" settings for XML memory setup in BIOS (letting the board auto-set the settings for the enhancement) this may affect your timings, or base clock, voltage, etc. Try to see if such settings are the correct settings for your sticks.

Generally, you don't want to change these timings if you just want some extra mhz. +V and +mhz is fine, especially if you have a decent TPU setup and power delivery system on your board

You already listed CAS settings

Also, its a good idea to check the Startup tab on TM. disable high-impact apps, as these processes can in turn eat up your memory. Also, when gaming, keep in mind that you should not have a lot running in the background if you want to have the best performance. Multiple apps can eat up CPU and RAM usage, but in some cases eat up your GPU.

Unless you have a 10 Series GPU and a decent Skylake CPU. then RAM speed/freq is the bottleneck.
