Hello, and thank you for your time. (Please forgive me if this is in the wrong section)

I am a security officer with horrendous handwriting.
I have my company's daily report sheet in PDF format and Open Office.

What I am trying to do is to create a stand alone fillible PDF that I can store on a thumb drive, and type out my reports each day.
I know this is possible, because a former employer did this for all our tax forms.

What I cant figure out is how to do it.  I have googled and have come up empty.  Many links say it can be done, but dont really offer much in the way of instruction.

I am going to attack the PDF in question, and I am hoping someone here can help me <3

Again, thank you for your time

You're going to need OCR (Optical character recognition) software to do what you want to accomplish, like Adobe Acrobat DC (not to be confused with Adobe Reader, for this one is paid software that allows to create PDF files) or Omnipage.

Word does allow to create a non-editable, fillable form, but you're going to lose the fillable part if you save to PDF.

There is an application to create forms in Office, but as far as I recall it's only available in the Professional and 365 versions. If you have Home & Student or Home & Business, you're in bad luck.

You need the PAID Adobe Acrobat Pro software to either convert your scanned document to a form, or at least create editable fields.

Do you have a digital copy of the form created in Word or OpenOffice Writer?

If so, send it on over and I'll find some time to make you a form with Acrobat Pro because clearly I am bored.
