I'm about to build a pc for the first time in a couple of days, but I only currently have my monitor speakers. Is there a way for me to use a pair of speakers from a stereo system with normal speaker wire with my pc? Obviously an amplifier must be involved somewhere, but I have minimal experience with this sort of thing.

Thanks a ton!

Yes, you are correct in that an amplifier will be needed. This could be a stereo amplifier or a receiver of some sort that has amplification in it (most do).

The amplifier will most likely accept stereo RCA input. However your PC will likely only accept 3.5mm audio input. So you will want a 3.5mm male to stereo RCA male adapter cable. Check first, some amplifier or receivers will also have a 3.5mm input.
