automatic restart of computer!

Go to solution Solved by Wulfgar,

Sometimes the notification for windows update doesn't stray out of the windows taskbar. I've had my computer restart "suddenly" because of it. Check windows update to see if it had installed anything somewhat prior to when the restart was.

How did it restart? Normal restart procedure? Or did you get a black screen?

If it was only once, it is probably just windows messing up. Did windows give you an error message? If it keeps happening you might want to take the reset and power off from your case off of your motherboard and use an external switch to see if it is your front IO and not your software.

You sure there weren't updates that needed to be installed?

A one-time occurrence is nothing to raise an alarm for. It could literally be an infinite number of reasons.

It is possible to prevent windows update from prompting you to restart your computer but the method is different depending on if you have the pro version or not and it may be different from windows 7 to windows 8, you can probably probably find a guide with google.
