Active or Passive adapter?!?

Hello, I need an active mini display port to dvi adapter for my 3 monitor with my hd 7870. So I looked at my local computer stores website and found an adapter. The problem is that I don't know if it's active or passive. I was wondering if some one knew if it was active or passive, it would help a lot.

AMD cards (of that generation atleast) require an active adapter for the third monitor.

 

And yeah, active adapters usually require some form of external power.
