Well if you're looking for the best out there, the MSI GT80 Titan reigns imo

But if you're looking for something that won't set you back $4500 I suggest a Razer Blade Stealth for on the go and programming work and purchasing a Razer Core and a desktop GPU for gaming http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-stealth

Don't get a Razer Blade Stealth. Read up on how subpar the Stealth is. Then read up on how current eGPU tech is also not mature yet.

Best laptop for 1200$+ meant for gaming and programming.

For 1200, you won't be able to get a 970m. You can get a 965m. If you stretch your budget more, you can get a 970m. Currently this is what I would recommend. http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP7259.html
