Good DAC?

Heya Guys,

 

I am a total noob when it comes to Audio DACs. Is there a good way to tell if one is good or not?

test driving it is pretty much the only way. audio taste is very subjective. look here and check out the different features from legitimate audio companies and you can narrow down what you are really looking for for starters.

How much do you want to spend? Also, what are you using these with?

Look around for an Arcam Black Box 50 on eBay or something. My dad found one for $150 on eBay and brand new they are worth around $1800 Fantastic quality DAC if you can find one for cheap

It depends on what your using it for, what you're connection it to.

 

It's dumb to suggest something that might be worse than what you already have. All your decives that can use digital sound and gives analog out already has a DAC.

You don't always need a standalone DAC if the one you already have is good enough.
